The Liverpool Weaving Company was founded by Kirsty Jean Leadbetter in 2018, to facilitate her passion for woven textiles in the city she was raised in and loves. This design studio is Liverpool's very first and only micro mill, offering bespoke artisan cloth and tweeds in short runs and beautiful homewares. Kirsty works with a plethora of clients, from local alpaca farmers to haute couture brands.
Kirsty Jean has a decades worth of woven experience, such co-managing a weave studio in the Shetland Islands, a place she still draws much inspiration from.
As well as weaving commissions and products for her own brand, Kirsty also runs Weaving Workshops with the aim of popularising weaving as a hobby and igniting a wider interest for this niche craft.
During these workshops, Kirsty will demonstrate thread by thread how to set up a frame loom and how to accomplish different woven techniques. You will then be able to try these patterns out for yourself, weaving with a variety of different textural and colourful yarns to create a beautiful piece of handwoven cloth.
Traceability, sustainability and durability are words engrained into the core values of The Liverpool Weaving Company. We believe in a holistic approach to design, whereby each handwoven piece of textile is developed, sampled and woven on the loom in Merseyside. Our approach is simple: good design proudly and durably made, for you to use daily for decades.
Even down to fine details, such as our handcrafted leather labels and blanket stitched edges, everything is sourced here in Merseyside.
